Milestones


  • 1992 - GECAD Software, the first group company is born.

  • 1994 - The GECAD team conceives the idea of creating an antivirus and security software to be christened RAV Antivirus.

  • 1996 - GECAD takes the critical decision to make RAV Antivirus a platform independent software capable of serving all operating platforms.

  • 2003 - Microsoft acquires RAV's Antivirus technology and team to facilitate its security initiatives. GECAD gets international recognition as a developer of leading edge technologies.

  • 2004 - GECAD ePayment is launched to serve the fast growing e-commerce market in Romania. The company sets the trend in taking Romanian commerce on line.

  • 2004 - GECAD invests in Axigen, a start-up technology company focussed on developing innovative messaging solutions for enterprise users and ISP's.

  • 2005 - GECAD ePayment diversifies its line of business by creating Avangate, an international provider of electronic software delivery services for software publishers.

  • 2007 - GECAD exits from Smartree.

  • 2010 - To manage the exponential growth of GECAD ePayment, the company is split on its lines of business to create ePayment and Avangate as independent companies.

  • 2010 - MIH Allegro, a part of the Naspers Group acquires a majority stake in ePayment.
