AXIGEN (www.axigen.com), the professional messaging solution vendor, announces today it now powers the largest portal in the Middle East. Maktoob.com (www.maktoob.com) has chosen the AXIGEN Mail Server to manage the email accounts of over 4 million registered users.
Based in Amman, Jordan, Maktoob.com is the world’s first and largest Arabic/English web-based email service and currently offers extensive services and products for the Arab Internet users. The portal chose the AXIGEN Mail Server to manage its ever growing email accounts databases after comparing it against CommuniGate Pro and the originally employed solution, comprising Mirapoint and SurgeMail servers.
“We felt CommuniGate Pro was equal to AXIGEN in terms of performance and scalability, but its cost of ownership was much higher. As a result, we selected AXIGEN and purchased it on an unlimited license basis. AXIGEN is very stable and fast. Moreover, its licensing options perfectly meet our requirements as provider of free email services with web-based access for more than 4 million users”, said Hussam Khoury, co-founder and President of Maktoob.com.
“We are really pleased to be part of such a valuable business relationship and that our product has once again proven it can successfully meet the challenges of a high standards and extremely demanding company, such as Maktoob. We are convinced this will be a test of a long series our messaging solution passes with outstanding”, said Oana Bornaz, AXIGEN CEO.
Now at version 5.0, the AXIGEN Mail Server runs on several Linux and BSD distributions, on Solaris, on PowerPC and on SPARC architectures and signed technology partnerships with Sun Microsystems, RedHat, IBM and Avira. AXIGEN has recently won the ServerWatch 2007 Product Excellence Award for the Communications Server category, after having competed with four other messaging solutions – Zimbra, CommuniGate, Merak and Lotus.
